The Right Way to Make An Orange Cake

This delicious orange cake is soft with a fragrance and easy to bake. Serve it as a snack or in the morning with tea to brighten your day. Preheat your oven to 330 degrees Fahrenheit and prepare your baking pan by greasing and lining the bottom with parchment paper. Add room temperature butter in the bowl of a stand mixer together with one cup of sugar then allow that to mix until creamy and fluffy.

In a separate bowl, sift three cups of all-purpose flour together with two tablespoons of cornstarch, you can skip that if you are using cake flour. Next, add two teaspoons of baking powder and one teaspoon of salt, after whisking all the dry ingredients using a whisk to combine everything then set aside.

With the mixer on medium speed, add three eggs one by one and beat well after each addition until well incorporated then add two tablespoons of sour cream, this will make your cake richer and moist. Mix until everything is well blended. Juice two cups of orange juice from fresh oranges and one teaspoon of vanilla then add them to the butter mixture.

Once everything is mixed well, add the flour mixture starting with half of the mixture, and allowing it to mix in add the other half and mix just until the flour is moistened. Make sure you do not overbeat the batter. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and level the top then pop in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until golden brown. Once baked, remove the cake from the pan and let it cool completely. Serve and enjoy.
